An eye that will last a life time does not emit cataract at infancy – Yoruba Proverb
I simply don’t understand this noise
about the absence of Mr. President and his ‘diplomatic’ duties at Rio, Brazil.
Why should anyone care about his where about? Why do we make Mr. President feel
we miss him? We do not, at least I don’t: except the condolence messages came a
little late and I certainly miss the rage that runs through me when he makes
those unintelligible statements; knowing well that he knows he does not mean the
promises.
Seriously, Nigerians should not
be those who border about Jonathan’s where about. It should be his cohorts. His
presence at home makes no significant difference, except that the condolence
messages may be spot on. So who cares if he begins a world tour from Brazil?
The Minister of Information,
Labaran Maku said the President can rule from anywhere. He explained that he is
in constant touch with the country almost on hourly bases. Bravo! That is e-presidency. Isn’t it? We should have known. He was
first a facebook cum Tweeter President before we gave him a country. So why do
we border if he rules via airwaves? Security
and welfare of Nigerians are on his face book page; why look for it in Kaduna? My
concern however is that four years after U.S elections, President Obama’s
Tweeter handle is still very active; but President Jonathan’s is dead. Rono and
Reuben Abati’s cannot even stand the rage.
I read Action Congress of Nigeria,
ACN’s statement chronicling presidents and leaders who have abandoned diplomatic trips
to attend to urgent national matters. But the ACN missed this logic: those
heads of governments returned to their countries because there were strategic
solutions and their presence will make a lot of difference. But in the case of our
President, why do we crave to have him home? To show apathy and sensitivity? My foot!
All the attacks on citizens of
this country, except those of the past few days, have happened under the very
nose of President Jonathan; so why do we want him in the country? He knows his presence will make no difference
– at least if he lies to everyone, not himself. So let his Rio ‘adventure’
serves as face-saving: for it is only in Nigeria that terrorists tell the
government where and how they will strike and they will make good their
promise.
I think I believe and Trust Boko
Haram more than my government; that is why I will stay away from the north
until this “bloody June” is over. Let
him stay in Rio and learn how to govern a country. Also let the Brazilian
government learn from his impeccable resume of failure; how not to
govern a country.
For me Nigerians should do more
than talking. Leave the President alone and think of approaches to solve our
common problem. We obviously don’t need a government, what we need is a
movement. Let me state that with the
spate of violence in the country, 2015 will be too far to act. Nigeria is no
more at the brinks; It is a failed state. She manifests all the characteristics
of a failed state.
So the focus is not just on how
to ‘send’ PDP out of power, it should be how to purge our nation of political
profiteers – the swindlers. Those who auction our collective joy. Who slaughter
unity on the altar of self aggrandizement. Those who make this nation big for
nothing before the world and reverse it calendar by their works, words and deeds.
I do not speak of idle theories,
I speak of practice!

"So the focus is not just on how to‘send’ PDP out of power, it shouldbe how to purge our nation of political profiteers – the swindlers..." True talk, brother. Na real e-Presidency. I thought d President himself said that he was going to cut spending on foreign trips. But now, ours has d largest delegation. "We obviously don’t need a government, what we need is a movement".
